Manning Vs. Drew Brees Will Turn Out To Be Exactly What Football Fans Hope For

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

If you were to ask a football fan to name the best two quarterbacks in the league, you’d likely be told that Drew Brees and Peyton Manning earn this distinction. Through the course of the season, these two players led their teams to many wins, and ultimately the Super Bowl.

Very rarely do we see two of the best quarterbacks in the sport facing off against one another in the Super Bowl. This year, the football world will be privileged enough to enjoy such an opportunity. Not only is this the case, but many believed that both teams were tops in the league through the course of the season.

These have both been great teams throughout the year. In fact, they were the last two teams to lose a regular season game and many were predicting undefeated years for both of them after they remained undefeated well into December.

Neither the Colts nor the Saints finished out the season without a loss. In fact, each team lost two games, each for their own reasons. Still, this was enough to secure home field advantage, which clearly helped to secure a Super Bowl berth for each team.

When Indianapolis and New Orleans meet up with one another, fans will all agree about the fact that the winner will probably come down to the team with the more effective quarterback.

This is different from the last few Super Bowl meetings we’ve seen. If you look at the previous two winners in the Steelers and Giants, both teams won the game on the heels of a strong defense.

This year, it looks like offense is the name of the game. While each team has an efficient defense that is largely responsible for the team’s success, it really comes to down to each quarterback’s poise, precision, and hunger on the field.

This may very well be one of the highest scoring Super Bowls we’ve seen in recent years. As great as defensive battles can be, this will be an extremely refreshing change from the usual.

In addition to football, the author also frequently blogs on solar pool panels and solar panels cost.

chelsea manchester city

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Last evening its was the first Chelsea bitten at home by Man City after 1993. That was one of the worst result for chelsea and their fan.  Frank Lampard’s low strike put Chelsea in lead but Carlos Tevez equalised after a long ball was not dealt with, before Craig Bellamy shot beyond Hilario.  City had failed to score previous  seven visits to Stamford Bridge, while Chelsea had only conceded eight at home in the Premier League all season.

All eyes before kick-off were focused on Terry and Bridge dispute, who came face-to-face on this match for the first time since allegations about the former’s relationship with the latter’s ex-partner. Chelsea was winning in possesion and all in first half but they lost total control in second half and playing like headless chicken.  Last pen of Lampard at least put chelsea in such remarkable score to display. It was totally home defeat for Chelsea.

Buy World Cup Soccer Jerseys Today and Show Support To Your Team

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Millions of soccer fans around the globe are eagerly awaiting the approaching 2010 world cup. If you belong to one of the 32 teams that progressed to these finals that come June and July you’ll want to be certain you are ready to give your team your full support. A simple way to express your allegiance is to wear soccer world cup jerseys in your team’s colors.

The soccer world cup only comes around every four years, and each time on a different continent. It is the only international event that has more viewers than the Olympics. When the matches are played, the countries competing often come to a halt, and more so if the team goes on to the latter rounds. Even if you come from a country which did not get through the qualifying rounds, such as Ireland who were knocked out by the lucky hand of Thierry Henry, then you may still end up sat in front of the TV following the matches.

All the teams taking part in the 2010 South Africa event have designed new home and away kits just for the occasion. It does not matter what your size or age you can find an authentic option that is a perfect fit.

Always go for world cup jerseys made by the famous manufacturers like Nike, Reebok, Adidas or Umbro. They are made of high quality and will last for a number of years. If your team does go on to win the event then a jersey would be an excellent memento of their glory.

When it comes to picking an individual shirt you can choose to have a certain player’s name and number displayed across the back. Why not opt for a shirt with Beckham, Rooney, or Gerrard’s names in bold print. As many pundits are suggesting this could be England’s time to repeat their victory in 1966, such jerseys may be worth more after the event than before.

The best place to check out the latest 2010 soccer jerseys is over the net. Your local retail store may not give you the options you desire. Online you are guaranteed to find the right design and size.

It is never too early to buy world cup soccer jerseys. The closer we get to kick off the more costly and in demand soccer world cup jerseys will become.

Some Things To Know About Sport Betting

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Gambling has been around for as long as anyone can remember. The need to bet on whether something will come to pass reflects a basic part of human psychology. Sports too is something that people have always been interested in. So it makes sense that people would combine the two events, and form sport betting.

Horse racing has been something that people have gambled on for hundreds of years. Horses run very fast, so people like the excitement of the race. The only thing more exciting is to bet some money on the result, so that the element of risk is involved.

There are words that a person who is going to gamble should become familiar with, so that they will know what is being talked about. One such word is odds. Odds relates to the likelihood of something taking place. In the case of horse racing, someone might say that the odds are high that a horse will win. If they say this, they mean that if you bet on the horse and it wins, you will win only a little money. On the other hand, if they say that the odds are low that the horse will win, if you bet on it and it wins, then you can win much more money.

If you want to bet, the person to approach is the bookie. He is the individual who collects money for the bets, and gives you odds for each game that you gamble on. If you win the bet, he will give you your winnings.

Gambling in sports is so popular because men like to bond over sports, whether it be baseball, football, or basketball. Watching a sport together is a communal experience, and the only thing that can make it more interesting for the participants is betting on it.

In order for gambling to legally take place, it must be registered with regulatory agencies and follow all kinds of rules and restrictions. The promoters must also pay large fees. For these reasons, there are few legitimate gambling organizations. On the contrary, most are illegal and are run without the government knowing about it. Of particular concern is that many criminals are involved in it, and these people are not shy about using violence to make money. It is safest to stay away from such illegal operations.

There is also the problem that many people who start betting become addicted to it. They may win a few games, and the expectation is that they will continue to win, and that any losses they incur are temporary. In this situation they are no longer capable of making rational decisions, and are in danger of gambling everything they have in order to win. If a person has problems with addiction, they should stay away from betting.

Sport betting is fun and harmless when it takes place among friends and involves only small amounts of money. But one should always be vigilant that things don’t get out of hand.

Inter Milan – Chelsea – UEFA

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

That was really good match to watch. Chelsea did same thing which Arsenal keep doing since long keeping more and more possession but no good hit. Chelsea was winning at second half and the penalty that they have missed before half was really not forgettable they should have raise it on top level because that was the chance for them to come back to the game again. Drogba has tried lots and almost on target only was he was not enough to bit lusio or goal keeper but it was look like level match none of them were looking heavy to each bother but Inter did good thing. Being a top in Barclays Premiership Chelsea has chance to prove lot of thing on this match, they tried their best but hard luck. Any way best of luck to them for future game.

Huskies Stun Trojans With Last Second FG Victory

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

USC has won their big game against Ohio State twice in back to back years. Its the next game they have problems with. Last year, USC went on the road and lost to Oregon State immediately after defeating the Buckeyes. This year, it was the Washington Huskies who pulled the upset. The Huskies defense shut down the powerful Trojans offense, and Erik Folk kicked a 22 yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining to give Washington a 16-13 victory in Seattle. U

College football betting enthusiasts who took the Huskies as a whopping +19 home underdog were rewarded with the outright victory. The pointspread triumph also went against Washington’s dismal ATS form in recent years”the Huskies were 8-19 ATS overall and 3-15 ATS in Pac 10 games over the past three seasons. The 29 combined points scored went well UNDER the posted total of 52. USC has now gone UNDER in 20 of their last 28 games overall, as well as 15 of their last 18 conference games.

USC was undone by a rare display of sloppy, undisciplined play much to the chagrin of coach Pete Carroll:

“We didn’t get any better from last week. I’m not doing a good enough job of making the points of how we win. We didn’t throw the ball very well today. It was obvious. We couldn’t get the ball down the field very much. We’ve rarely been in that situation.”

The Trojans played without QB Matt Barkley, who engineered the game winning drive against Ohio State last week. Barkley is nursing a sore shoulder, and his status is game to game. His backup, Aaron Corp, was held to 111 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. He gave this glum assessment of his performance:

“I felt I was prepared. I just didn’t execute.

After the contest running back Joe McNight, who ran for 100 yards and scored the Trojans only touchdown, observed that superior talent can be negated by a poor effort:

“Washington wasn’t the better team. They just outplayed us. Clearly, we have superior athletes. But hard work beats athleticism any day.”

Off of the Pac 10s first 0-12 season a year ago, the team is now under the mentorship of former BYU QB and USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian who was elated with the victory:

“It’s unbelievable. It’s a great moment for our program and hopefully sends a message of where we’re headed.”

Washington running back Jake Locker, who ran for a touchdown early in the game, was in a state of near disbelief:

“I can’t really describe it. It’s an amazing feeling to go through what all of us have gone through and to experience what everyone wants to experience when they play college football.”

USC will try to get back on the winning track at home against Washington State next week. Theyll then head up to Northern California for a tough rivalry game against the University of California on October 3rd and then enjoy a bye week before taking to the road again to play Notre Dame. Washington will play at Stanford next weekend.

Jets’ Rookie QB Sanchez Suffering From Minor Knee Ailment

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has been a crucial factor in the teams 2-0 start, showing a poise and head for the game very rare for NFL newcomers. Still, there wasn’t much worry at the revelation that hes suffering from tendinitis in his right knee. The Jets announced Sanchez’s injury on Thursday, and hes listed as probable on the official NFL injury report.

Sanchez practiced on Thursday, and though he was seen stopping to stretch and rub his right knee on a few occasions didn’t seem to suffer any impairment in his mobility. He participated in the entire practice, and there didnt appear to be any sort of effort to prepare Kellen Clemens to assume the starting role. Clemens, who served as Brett Favre’s backup during his time with the Jets, didn’t get any additional reps with the starting offense that would have indicated a concern about Sanchez’s health.

In his comments to the media, Jets head coach Rex Ryan confirmed the injury while downplaying its significance:

“It’s not that big a deal. He has something. I don’t know how to describe it than just to say its a little tendinitis. But, he’s fine. I mean, he fully participated and moved around great, I thought.”

New York offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was even more emphatic in his statement:

“Mark’s totally fine.”

Ryan then added a sarcastic note that brought laughs from the assembled media: “Make sure he’s on that list. I don’t mean anything by that.”

Ryan was referring to the Jets receiving a fine from the NFL for not properly disclosing injuries to then-QB Brett Favre late last season. Favre was suffering from a torn biceps tendon, though the team didnt list him on the official NFL injury report. The team was fined $75,000 while GM Mike Tannenbaum and former coach Eric Mangini were each fined $25,000 each.

The Jets are less optimistic about the condition of cornerback Donald Strickland, who is suffering from a sprained right ankle. Ryan didnt offer much positive indication that hed be able to see action on Sunday:

“I don’t think he’s going to be able to play this week. I’m not declaring him out right now, but I don’t think there’s any way he’s playing this week.”

The Jets host the Tennessee Titans at the Meadowlands this Sunday afternoon. New York has been installed as a -1 home favorite, with the total set at 37. After that, the Jets will take to the road for their next two games. Theyll play the New Orleans Saints on October 4th before heading to south Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins the following Monday night.

Giants Top ‘Skins In NFC East Rivalry Game

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

The New York Giants jumped out to a 17-0 lead against their NFC East rivals from Washington, and were never threatened as they went on to beat the Redskins by a final score of 23-17. Defensive stalwart Osi Umenyiora returned from a serious knee injury and scored a touchdown on a fumble return, while the Giants offense controlled the ball well and completely dominated the time of possession.

NFL sports betting enthusiasts who took the Redskins as +5 road underdogs were likely not heartened by the near miss on a backdoor cover. The Redskins scored a touchdown with 1:30 left to get within a ” point of the spread but the Giants still got the cover by the slimmest of margins. The Skins dropped to 13-17 ATS over the past three years with the setback, while New York improved their pointspread mark to an impressive 27-11 against the number. NFL totals players also witnessed a late game change of fortune due to the Skins touchdown, with the 7 points pushing the point total OVER the posted 37.

None of the Giants players were as elated with the victory as defensive end Umenyiora. Hed missed the entire 2008 season due to a knee injury, and was happy to be back contributing to a victory:

“It was unbelievable and now all that is in the past. I can’t even explain it to you, when something like that is taken away from you. Last year I missed it. I was happy I was able to come back in there.”

His touchdown return came in the second quarter, when he knocked the ball away from Redskins QB Jason Campbell and headed for the endzone:

“To be honest, I don’t know what happened. That’s the way most plays are made. You just go out there and sometimes good things happen. They always get on me about knocking the ball out and not picking it up. When I saw it, I just picked it up.”

Campbell chalked it up to a simple mental lapse that resulted in him holding onto the ball too long:

“Osi made a great play on the ball. It’s something you have to understand as a quarterback you have to feel it more or slide up in the pocket.”

Umenyiora affirmed that it couldnt have been a better return to the NFL:

“Not only was it a W, but it was against an NFC East opponent. It was a great game.”

The Redskins will have a great opportunity to cash in their first win of the season this week as they step down in class to host the lowly St. Louis Rams. Theyll continue feasting on the NFLs bottom feeders the following week as they travel to Detroit to play the hapless Lions before returning home for a game against the Tampa Bay Bucs on October 4th. The Giants have another big game on Sunday as they head to Dallas to face the Cowboys in the first regular season game in the new Cowboys Stadium. Theyll remain on the road for the following two weeks, facing Kansas City and Tampa Bay.

Browns Keeping Starting QB Under Wraps

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Most NFL head coaches place a priority on naming a starting QB before the regular season begins. The idea is that it helps the chemistry on the team, as well as helping the quarterback define himself as a team leader. Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini hasn’t named his starting QB yet. Nor will he, at least not publicly. Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson will find out if they’re the starting QB in the next couple of days, but the first public confirmation their coach will give is when they trot out on the field after the NFL regular season begins.

Mangini stressed that he’d already made his choice. He also made clear that there would be no public announcement forthcoming:

“In terms of announcing it publicly, that’s not something I plan to do. It will be internal. I understand everybody has a different opinion on it. I respect that. I understand the excitement in relationship to that and I respect that as well. But that will be something that will be internal.”

As of Sunday, both quarterbacks were still in the dark and not saying much. Derek Anderson said he didnt have a clue:

“I know as much as you guys know.

While Quinn suggested that it wasnt a big concern for him:

“I’m not worried about it. You guys are more worried about it than I am.”

Mangini may be trying to gain a strategic advantage over the Browns opponents in their opening game:

“It is more difficult to plan for two quarterbacks than it is to plan for one. I’m not saying that’s going to be the difference or not the difference, but I know that there is time allotted to that and you can’t put the same amount of time into focusing on one player.”

On the other hand, Vikings coach Brad Childress said that it really didnt make a difference in how hed approach preparing his gameplan:

“Just schematically, you’re going to go back and look at tape and see what you’ve seen. And then I know, as do our guys, that there will be unscouted looks. They certainly haven’t showed their whole hand, offensively and defensively. So you’re just going back and looking at formation-wise where they’re putting people and what kind of players they are. It will be more about us deploying to what they do.”

The Browns coach emphasized that regardless of who is eventually named the starting QB that hes happy with the play of both:

“I have been happy with the progress that both guys made. I’m happy with the way they’ve worked. I’m happy with the way they approached this competition, and it’s not always easy to approach a competition in a team fashion, and I respect the way they’ve handled it.”

After hosting the Vikings in their opening game of the 2009 NFL regular season, Cleveland will hit the road for their second game as they take on the Broncos at Denver.
