Choosing Great Super Bowl Food

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

With the Super Bowl just a few weeks away, have you decided what to serve the crowds of screaming football fans that will be invading your home? Do yourself a favor and keep it simple. No one will want to leave the game for a formal meal. Just give them snacks they can enjoy while they watch the game.

Set up a buffet near the viewing area so everyone can get easy access to the food. If you want to serve hot food since the weather is cold, put some crock pots to use. Crock pots can be used to make chili, pulled pork for sandwiches or stew. Swedish meatballs can be picked out of a crock pot with toothpicks or skewers. Other hot dishes could include a big pan of lasagna or a big pot of spaghetti. These foods can be put together ahead of time and cooked at the last minute. Set them out on the buffet and let your guests serve themselves. Buffalo wings are always a hit and they are a breeze to make.

Everyone loves chips and dip. You can also place cream cheese on a plate and pour salsa over it. Serve it with tortilla chips for a quick dish. Make some deli sandwiches using French or Italian bread. Fill them up with sliced cheese and cold cuts, wrap them in plastic, and put them in the fridge until you need them. Cut and serve as needed. If you want, you can even pop some in the oven for warming.

Use bread bowls for people to use for chili or even spaghetti. The bowl will taste as good as the filling. Make a bunch of baked potatoes or hot dogs and set them out with toppings. Your guests can design their own dog or potato by adding their favorites.

If you want to stick with an appetizers only party, your choices are endless. From simple cheese and crackers to sausage rolls, you cannot go wrong. You can even find a recipe for beer puffs. Anything wrapped in bacon will be a hit. Wrap bacon around a cube of cheese, a shrimp, or a slice of sausage for an appetizer that will be gone as soon as you put it on the table. Do not worry so much about healthy snacks during the Super Bowl… it is one day that everyone wants to nosh on foods that make them feel good.

Do not forget the beverages. Many football fans appreciate having plenty of beer on hand. Keep it cold in an ice chest near the food table. Sodas are also a good choice for those who prefer not to drink alcohol. Stock several varieties so everyone can find something that they like to drink. Screaming and yelling as the game gets exciting can result in some mighty thirsty guests!

Whatever Superbowl party recipes you decide to make is up to you. Just make sure you make enough to satisfy your guests. Set the food out on the table in shifts so there is always something tasty to eat. You do not want to go down in history for running out of food by halftime.

Your Superbowl party will be a success as long as you feed your guests some great food and your television reception is good. Everyone will have a great time, including you.

Making easy Superbowl party recipes means that you can prepare all your refreshments well ahead of time and unwind with your guests when the game starts. Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Super Bowl Parties

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

So, you are anticipating the big game. You are thinking of having everyone over to enjoy the game and have some fun. You want everything to go smoothly so everyone has a great time. The anticipation grows and you begin to worry about disappointing your guests. You are in luck because there are several things you can do to make sure your party is a success.

Remember the hours you enjoyed at tailgating parties during football season? Why not use the same idea for your Super Bowl party? You can use lawn chairs in your living room to add that casual feeling. Set the food out buffet style on a big table so everyone can help themselves. Get some stacks of high quality paper plates and some durable plastic utensils… it will make cleaning up so much easier! Play on those memories of tailgating in the comfort of your own living room.

Supply plenty of cold beverages. Soda, water, and beer will be the easiest to serve as well as what is expected. Keep them cold in chests full of ice. We are invoking that tailgating fun, remember? Screaming and cheering brings on a lot of thirst, so be sure to stock enough!

Let us talk about food. Every great Super Bowl party has great snack foods. Snacks are easy to make and are fun to eat while you are watching the game. Think of delicious snacks like meatballs, pizza, nachos, chicken wings… almost anything that tastes great and you can eat with your hands. If you serve chili or other food that needs to go in a bowl, use paper cups. Use crock pots and platters to serve the food so your guests can graze.

Another Super Bowl party tradition is the giant submarine sandwich. Pile it high with tomato, lettuce, and cold cuts. Surround it with lots of chips and dips to choose from. Other finger foods like sausage rolls and pigs in blankets are easy to make and they taste fabulous. Keep everything simple and fun so you can relax, too.

Just in case some of your guests are not into football, plan for a snack area in the kitchen or dining room so they can congregate together and enjoy themselves. If children will be present, set up a place where they can play and enjoy kid friendly snacks where they will not interrupt the game.

Choosing simple Superbowl party recipes will take the stress off of you and let you enjoy the game and your guests. Prepare as many as you can ahead of time to make it even easier. Plan to space out your food offerings over the course of the day so there is always food available.

On Super Bowl Sunday, you will be able to relax. Well, at least you will be able to join in the fray and cheer for your favorite team. Watching football tends to get rather intense at times. Either way, you will have a great time serving up delicious snacks at your Super Bowl party.

Making simple Superbowl party recipes means that you can prepare all your munchies well ahead of time and unwind with your guests when the game starts. The ‘09 Season is Special for the Giants and their Fans

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

The Giants are playing, what appears to be, the same schedule they played in the ‘08 season. Well, if not the same, it’s pretty close. The Giants will be hosting their games against the Eagles and Panthers, just like they did last season. Additionally, they will be playing their three rivals between weeks- and 15, and opened the ‘09 season against Washington, again, just like the ‘08 season.

The two weeks of preseason practices and games made it appear, to the fans and coaches, that the Giants had an unbreakable defense this year. Upon winning their first preseason game, against the Panthers, this would prove to be true; the Giants defense is strong and other teams should be prepared.

Even the coaching staff backs the work and confidence they have in the Giants this year. Coach Tom Coughlin was asked who he thought was his top players this year, and most of the names he gave were on the defensive line, some of which were newcomer Sintim, Bruce Johnson, Tommie Hill, and Leger Dougable. Not that they are the only players who deserve a pat on the back, but they are definitely getting attention with their performance so far this year.

The Giant’s first preseason game, not only proved what a strong defense they had, but it also re-introduced an amazing receiver – David Tyree. Tyree was not able to play in the ‘08 season, as he had suffered a knee injury during the off season. Due to the severity of the injury, he had to sit on the sidelines for an entire year. This left the space on the roster for new blood, which was found. Tyree came back because he had been released by the doctors, but he also needed to ensure a spot on the roster for the ‘09 season.

Tyree appears to be completely secure in his position on the team, as this current situation does not appear to be affecting him at all. He, as always, has promised his absolute best for, not only his fans, but his team too. This being said, Tyree is confident in his value to the Giants, and if they run out of room for him, he knows he will be valued on other teams.

So, whether David Tyree missed an entire season or not, his team or performance should not be affected; not according to him anyway. Even though his knee will never be the same, he swears that his receiving skills are just as good as they were over a year ago. Not only can he talk the game, but he proved this to be true in his performance during the game against Washington.

This season, 2009, is the Giants’ 85th anniversary in the NFL. This being said, it is also the last season they will play in their current stadium. Beginning in the 2010 season, the Giants will share a stadium with the Jets; they will play in the Meadowlands Stadium. Fans, loyal or not, this is your last chance to see the Giants play in their stadium.

This season brings a lot of excitement for fans across the world. Old players back on the field, anniversary, and closure on a part of the team. StubPass.com has all of the information, necessary, for upcoming games and events. This is the time to get into the stadium before its time to say goodbye. Help the Giants walk out of their stadium with glory.

Jacksonville Jaguars Wipe The Slate Clean

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Jacksonville, Florida – at a point in time in history – had stated that they could not support a professional football team. However, ticket sales for the Jacksonville Jaguars have proven otherwise and have successfully supported the NFL franchise for years. Jaguar fans are dedicated and continue to purchase tickets and show up to all their home games regardless of their season record.

The NFL was looking for a city to start a new franchise in back in’92. They had their hopes on Charlotte, NC, St. Louis, MO, Baltimore, MD, Memphis, TN, or – their last choice – Jacksonville, FL. Florida already had two pro-football teams; there was really no need to add another.

Jacksonville, Florida was not a favorite pick for the NFL, for many different reasons. Besides the fact that Florida was full of professional sports teams, television ratings were low, the city was small, and it Jacksonville just did not quite match up to the other cities. Residents; however, were thrilled at the idea and bought 10,000 season tickets within a 10 day span. This event proved that Jacksonville was the best spot for the new franchise.

After 16 years on the field, the Jacksonville Jaguars still have not made it to a Super Bowl game, although they have come close. In’96, and again in’99, the team played for their AFC Division title – they did not win, but they played hard. In their first four years as a franchise, they made it to the playoffs three times, and NFL record.

The 2007 season was a successful one for the Jaguars as the closed the season with a—2 record. One of their best seasons yet and fans expected them to finish the job in 2008. However, there was a different story to be told in 2008.

Fans expected to see their team in the Super Bowl in 2008, or at the least, in the playoffs again. With multiple injuries and the players just not working as a team, it became apparent that the team was not going to get far this year. What closed the deal on this was when the Jaguars lost against the Bengals, who had not won a game all year. Sad thing is, they only lost by three points, which was even more devastating to the team.

Even though there were flaws and mistakes, the team played hard at every single game, they just continually missed opportunities that would have gotten them more wins. The team and management took a pounding in 2008, and it began to show in their games. Finally, when they played the Lions, their defeat pushed them to a win by a field goal right at the end of the game. This right here might be the turning point, for the team, after an embarrassing year.

There is no sugarcoating it, 2008 was a bad year for the Jaguars. Fans and players are; however, hopeful that 2009 will be a better year – one like they have played so many of in the past. Injured players are back this year, along with some new faces; the combination of these two things is giving the team – and fans – hope again. Fans are already looking for season tickets and, like always, will fill the stands during every home game.

Show Your Loyalty to the University of Kansas with Your Jayhawk Checks

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Do you root for the University of Kansas Jayhawks? Would you like to find a way to support your team without spending a lot of money? Are you tired of your plain, boring bank checks? If so, then ordering University of Kansas checks has never been easier, or more economical.

Founded in 1865, the main campus of the University of Kansas is located in Lawrence. It is the Flagship University for the State and as of 2008; it was also the 18th most popular university in the country, according to the U.S. News & World Report.

The school’s official mascot is the Jayhawk, a mythical cross between the blue jay and the sparrow hawk. It was popularized before the Civil War when an abolitionist group called the Jawyhawkers took it on. Once Kansas became a free state, the term became synonymous with the citizens.

When it comes to men’s basketball, the University of Kansas has won 52 conference championships which is an NCAA record. It has consistently been ranked in the AP Top 25 college basketball poll and behind Kentucky and North Carolina ranks 3rd all-time in NCAA Division I. The Jayhawks have also been to the Final Four under more head coaches than any other program. In fact, every single head coach has taken the team to the Final Four. The only two other teams that have won more titles are Kentucky and North Carolina.

Even though the University of Kansas football team doesn’t catch the publicity that their basketball team receives, they have still made it to the Orange Bowl 3 times. During the 2007-2008 seasons, the University obtained the most combined wins by any NCAA Division I program.

Nothing could be simpler than purchasing personal checks if you wish to show off your team spirit for the University of Kansas Jayhawks.

There are essentially two styles of University of Kansas checks to pick from. The Kansas Logo checks have a light blue background with a representation of the Jayhawk in the upper left hand corner and center. A coordinating debit wallet, checkbook cover, and return labels can also be purchased with these checks.

You can also find the #1 Fan Checks for the University of Kansas. These contain one scene throughout the checks of that diehard fan that either tunes in or shows up to every game, rain or shine. Coordinating accessories can also be purchased with these checks.

If the price tag and aggravation of going to your local bank in the past kept you from ordering checks, then you might be glad to know that by buying your checks from a trustworthy website you can save as much as 50%. Don’t forget to have your routing number and checking account number on hand so that they can be printed right onto your checks. You can normally expect to get them in about 3-5 days.

Before you order Kansas University checks, visit KansasUniversityChecks.com to find coupon codes and to save 50% off your next order of University of Kansas checks.
