John Lennon Liverpool Airport Parking Choices

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

It is easy and convenient to leave your car at John Lennon Liverpool Airport Parking. This is the result of the careful attention to detail behind the layout and design of the airport, with particular reference to the range of parking options on offer. Immediately in front of the Terminal entrance foyer is an ‘ultra short term’ parking area. This is intended for the benefit of those being dropped off at the airport by a third party, who can then drive away. Charges for this option are deliberately set very low to encourage people to use it whenever possible, but it should be noted that overstaying the 20 minutes allowed for this can prove expensive.

The car parks around the airport are well signposted. There is a ’second tier’ of short term parking available for travellers who wish to park a car for one or two days, up to a week

Customers who opt to park their car at John Lennon for a longer period will discover that the tariff is considerably cheaper in the medium and long stay parking lots. The same highly professional level of security is maintained in all the parking areas, with constant patrols in operation. All the on-site car parks (indoor and outdoor) are less than 500m from the Terminal, and for this reason it is not necessary to rely upon a shuttle bus service. Naturally, there are special arrangements for passengers with limited mobility. Immediately outside the Terminal gate there is a car park reserved exclusively for Blue Badge holders.

A Premium parking facility also exists, which has the advantage of a chauffeur who will park your car for you while you check in, and ensure that the car is ready on your return.

Situated about eight miles from the centre of Liverpool, John Lennon Airport has swiftly become a commercial success. One of the many hotels serving the airport was recently voted number eight in a national poll: only three hotels outside London figured in the top ten. The survey was taken exclusively from comments made by the customers themselves about their own experiences. Current parking tariffs can be viewed on our user-friendly website, and for your peace of mind we always confirm your bookings immediately and in writing.

Along the airport approach road there are currently at least three hotels which offer their guests a free courtesy car to meet their flight. For anyone who has booked an early flight and has travelled some distance to get to Liverpool, it may be worth considering leaving your car at one of these hotels rather than in the airport itself.

Fantastic England Vacations And Liverpool, Merseyside

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Liverpool is a cosmopolitan city in Merseyside in the north west of England. The city can lay claim to numerous “firsts” in the world. The most well known of these firsts is that the citywas the site of the earth’s first commercial wet dock. The docks in Liverpool were, during the first few decades of the nineteenth century, the busiest on the planet with around 40% of world trade being handled by the port. With such extensive wealth it is not too surprising to learn that the city is home to some of the greatest museums and galleries in the whole of the British Isles, second only to the nation’s capital, London. Below I discuss some of the various other reasons why the city such an exciting weekend break destination.

Lots of folk think that the city lacks any stately homes, castles, historical buildings and fortified houses and despite the fact that Liverpool Castle disappeared eons ago Liverpool is home to a few buildings which are unbeatable.

Obviously there are many more places to visit associated with the Beatles such as; The Beatles Story, Mathew Street Gallery, The Beatles Shop and The Cavern Club, as well as a few pubs (The Grapes in Mathew Street, The Jacaranda in Slater Street and Ye Cracke in Rice Street) and an endless number of places mentioned in Beatles songs such as Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane.

Rafa Benitez Love Him Or Hate Him?

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Rafa could have been paid a shocking 16 million pounds under the terms of his contract but reports suggest that he has accepted a sum around 6 million. Poor guy. After 6 years 1 UEFA Champions League(2004-05), 1 FA Cup(2005-06), 1 UEFA Super Cup (2005), and 1 FA Community Shield (2006) the Rafa-lution is finally over. Don’t feel too bad for him though, because of the move of one Jose Mourinho from Inter Milan it looks like he might already have a job in a few days time. Rafa did say before he left however;

“I’ll always keep in my heart the good times I’ve had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You’ll never walk alone.”

Opinion on if this has been a good thing or not for Liverpool is divided. I suppose that one unforgettable match in Istanbul is worth coming in 7th in the league this year. The 500 Liverpool fans that stormed Anfeild chanting his name certainly think so. The question now is who will fill his shoes? The rumour mill has been churning away and word on the street was that Guss Hiddink was the man. Guss however has dismissed the link. He has just taken the coaching job for Turkey and according to the Dutchman’s agent Cees van Nieuwenhuizen;

“Guus has shown over the years that he is loyal to agreements that he signed,” Van Nieuwenhuizen said. “There is no reason today why he would change such behaviour. “Guus just started two weeks ago in Turkey and as much as he likes the Premier League and as much as he respects Liverpool as a legendary club with a great future ahead, a switch would be hardly doable. I know, never say never and especially in football this is true, but for me this is an impossible thought.”

Rijkaard’s agent Perry Overmeers also dismissed any potential switch to Anfield as he is dedicated to Turkish side Galatasaray. “Rumours linking Frank to Liverpool are just that, rumours,” Overmeers said.”Frank is the type of person who likes to fulfil his obligations and he has one year left on his contract with Galatasaray.” So in some strange way Turkey is preventing Liverpool their ideal choice of managers. It’s like they’re saying “ok we gave you Istanbul and thats it!”

The likely candidates however seem to be Roy Hodgson (Fulham) and Louis van Gaal(Bayern Munich). Reports state that Kenny Dalglish and managing director Christian Purslow has shortlisted these two managers and will try to persuade them to take the job. Unfortunately even if they do get a good manager Liverpool might have to wait 2 to 3 years before “HIS” Liverpool will bear fruit.

City Breaks In Liverpool, England

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Once the second city of the British Empire, Liverpool has, since the Second World War been in decline. In recent years there has been a massive increase in investment with the centre of the city undergoing regeneration. Liverpool was the European Capital of Culture for 2008 throughout the year there were numerous events ranging from music concerts featuring world renowned artists to unique art exhibitions. Now the dust has settled what is there to attract tourists to this wonderful city? Well there are plenty of new hotels which cater for all markets with accommodation varying from inexpensive Liverpool bed & breakfast to top class 5 star luxury hotels. In the following article I introduce you to three visitor attractions in the city.

Tate Liverpool

Located on Liverpool’s waterfront, as part of the Albert Dock complex, is Tate Liverpool. Since opening in 1988, the Tate, for a short time, was the largest gallery of contemporary and modern art in the United Kingdom. The Tate is a highly popular visitor attraction in Liverpool, catering for in excess of 600,000 visitors through its’ doors every 12 months. The gallery is in one of the 5 converted warehouses. Originally converted by James Stirling, the building had to undergo further refurbishment in 1988 to create further more gallery space. In 2007 the foyer was redesigned, giving the gallery a more modern appearance with much better proportions in the reception area.

The Albert Dock

Liverpool’s Albert Dock was named after Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg, who opened the docks in 1846. The docks were extremely busy over the years,, but eventually had to close to shipping in 1972. The docks lay derelict and quiet, that is until the 1980’s when they were redeveloped with funding from the Merseyside Development Corporation. The dock consisted of five warehouse buildings, all of which are Grade I listed, making the Albert Dock complex the largest group of Grade I listed buildings in the United Kingdom. The docks are now home to a variety of tourist attractions, including the Tate Liverpool and the Merseyside Maritime Museum.

The Anglican Cathedral

Liverpool is celebrated for having two cathedrals: the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral. When John Charles Rye was assigned Liverpool’s Bishop in 1880, ironically there was no cathedral in Liverpool as that time. Soon, after a lot of debate the powers that be decided that a cathedral was essential. In 1902, they decided to have an open competition for the design of the cathedral. The winning design was chosen in 1903, and astonishingly, was a design by student Giles Gilbert Scott, who had no preceding construction experience. Another architect, George F. Bodley, was assigned to work with Scott, and oversee all building works and designs. King Edward VII laid the foundation stone in 1904, and in 1910, the first part of the cathedral, the Lady Chapel, was completed.

Besides the three visitor attractions examined above the city of Liverpool has a great many more. As well as this there are a huge number more not too far away, which are suitable places for a day’s visit. Destinations such as Southport, are ideal for a day out however you might want to stay there longer to see more of the place.
